The new book has just appeared: ‘Wind, Water and Waves on Bonaire’.
A book written by the passion and fascination of living with the sea. It gives you the insights of how the youth of Bonaire achieved a worldwide leading role in wind- wave and kite surfing. Tells you what nature means to the Bonairans and what role a big manufacturing company like Cargill (salt) plays in sustaining the famous flamingo population on the island. The book shows you the beauty of nature on the island and its surrounding reefs. It takes you to the inspiring efforts of the volunteers conserving the mangroves, the reefs and the turtles. And of course it introduces STINAPA; the epicenter of all nature management on Bonaire. Most of the wildlife pictures in the book were made by Casper Douma, freelance photographer for World Nature foundation. Startling! Action pictures are mainly made by Flavio Maestroni and Kiyoshisa Kuma They make you feel part of the exciting sports they show.
Its a book to read, to sit with, to think about.
Like the former CEO of STINAPA said:’ there should be more books like this on the island’
